Pick of the Week: Graffiti artists visit Woodstock gallery
British
graffiti artist Banksy's work will be on displayed at a Woodstock
gallery. Included in the Urban Art exhibition will be pieces by
Banksy, featured below, French graffiti artist Blek le Rat, and local
stencil artist Marvo. It will run at the Creative Art Gallery, in
Oxford Street, from Saturday this week to Sunday April 4.
Although the idenity of Banksy is unknown, his guerrilla-style work has sold for millions worldwide, and exhibits on walls, tunnels, and floors all over southern England.
French street artist Blek le Rat helped put graffiti and stencil art on the map with his work in Paris in 1981. He was the first artist to successfully use stencil art as a form of expressionism.
Antony Micallef's pieces will be alongside illustrator Titifreak. Before moving towards graffiti in 1996, his background was in comic art.
Marvo studied in London and was highly influenced by stencil and paste-up artist Blek le Rat.
All the work is for sale during the exhibition
